Responsible disposal

Sustainability at the core of
IT asset disposal

Sustainable approach

Sustainable IT asset disposal solutions

Sustainability is embedded into the way we manage IT asset disposal, shaping how equipment is reused, processed, and recycled responsibly. We recognise the important role that extending the lifecycle of IT assets plays in reducing environmental impact, and our processes are designed to prioritise reuse and recovery wherever possible. By combining responsible disposal practices with secure data handling, we help organisations achieve environmental objectives without compromising compliance or security.

Environmental impact

Reducing the environmental impact of electronic waste

Each year, large volumes of electronic waste are generated across the UK, with a significant proportion of IT equipment reaching the end of its lifecycle prematurely. When IT assets are not managed responsibly, valuable materials are lost and unnecessary waste is sent to landfill, increasing environmental pressure and resource consumption.

Our approach to IT asset disposal is designed to change this trajectory by prioritising reuse, recovery, and responsible recycling. By extending the usable life of IT equipment and diverting waste away from landfill, we help organisations reduce environmental impact while supporting wider sustainability and circular economy goals.

What sustainability-led disposal means for you

  • Reduced environmental impact through reuse
  • Responsible recycling over landfill disposal
  • Extended lifecycle for IT assets
  • Support for circular economy practices
  • Clear sustainability reporting and accountability
Sustainability reporting

Clear insight into the impact you’re making

Following each IT asset collection, we provide a detailed sustainability report that helps organisations understand the environmental outcomes of their disposal decisions. These reports highlight the impact of responsible reuse and recycling, showing how extending the lifecycle of IT equipment contributes to reduced waste and improved environmental performance.

Sustainability assessment

Scope emissions – How it works

1
Scope 1 covers our direct emissions such as those produced by our own vehicles.
2
Scope 2 involves indirect emissions from the generation of electricity we use.
3
Scope 3 emissions are other indirect emissions in our value chain, including upstream and downstream emissions.

Navigating Scope 3 obligations together

Understanding and accurately reporting Scope 3 emissions is a complex but necessary undertaking for any organisation that is committed to transparency and sustainability like we are. At ALS we are able to provide you with the tools and the data you need to do this.
Your Sustainability Report will include data that provides clear insights into the carbon savings you will have achieved by choosing to repurpose your IT equipment, instead of sending it to landfill.
Our reporting system, developed in partnership with the University of Liverpool, provides data that is accurate, complete and can be relied upon to confidently report your own Scope 3 emissions.
Contact us to find out how we can help you to navigate Scope 3 emissions and continue your commitment to a sustainable future.
